The early Air Mail Radio Stations (AMRS) used radio telegraphy to communicate with each other. In 1928, Teletype was first introduced to Air Traffic, replacing the telegraph. Teletype used teleprinters, which were electro-mechanical typewriters capable of sending weather reports and other Air Traffic information directly to any station.
Teletype was a mechanical marvel of its day, a forerunner of the computer networks of today.
