Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport is the oldest airport in Nigeria, with operations starting in 1936.
It began as a small airfield used by the colonial authorities as the Royal Air Force station serving military and civil aviation purposes. It later gained international status, marking an important milestone in the Nigerian aviation history. The airport was named after Mallam Aminu Kano, a prominent politician. It is also the first international airport in Nigeria.
