MANOEUVRING AREA is defined by ICAO as “that part of an aerodrome to be used for the take-off, landing and taxiing of aircraft, excluding aprons.” On the other hand, ICAO defines MOVEMENT AREA as “that part of an aerodrome to be used for the take-off, landing and taxiing of aircraft, consisting of the manoeuvring area and the apron(s).”
In other words, Manoeuvring Area comprises Runway and Taxiway, whereas, Movement Area comprises Runway, Taxiway and Apron. Therefore, While all parts of the Manoeuvring Area are movement areas, it is not all parts of the Movement Area that are manoevring areas.
